The Woodhouse Farm Private Nature Reserve was established in early 2006 under the auspices of the Radnorshire Wildlife Trust. Our aim is to encourage as diverse a range of flora and fauna as possible onto the farm, and to provide a safe haven.
We have owl boxes on the farm as well as bird and bat boxes. However we are particularly enthusiastic about the river margins and marshy areas, which are already providing a haven for all sorts of birds, small mammalsand plant life. We have plans for the construction of an Otter Holt. Already we have seen signs of the Otter visiting, and we aim to try to encourage him to stay. Likewise, our rather wind damaged conifer copse is slowly being cleared and allowed to regenerate with native species, and even in a short space of time we are surprised at the diversity which is appearing naturally. |
