The local area is ideal for most outdoor activities, including walking, cycling and horse riding. Glyndwr's Way long distance path passes within 20 minutes walk of the farm, and there are also many local paths and byways which you can explore and probably see nobody all day.
Within 20 minutes drive is the wonderful Elan Valley, again an outdoor lover's paradise. It is even possible, and makes an excellent day out, to walk from Woodhouse into the Elan Valley, crossing the Wye Valley and the mountains, making the return trip by post bus. Nature lovers are sure to be interested in visiting the Radnorshire Wildlife Trust's reserve at Gilfach, and also Bryncennarth Woods, both again within walking distance from Woodhouse. |

There are two local pubs within about a mile of Woodhouse, both of which serve meals, and also a village Post Office.
If you prefer more civilisation, Rhayader is a pleasant small market town, with a full range of local shops, leisure centre, pubs cafes, a library and banks. Almost equidistant is Llanidloes, again a pleasant and slightly larger market town . For those wishing to travel slightly further afield the former County towns of Llandrindod Wells, Newtown and Brecon are all within easy driving distace, as are places such as Hereford and Hay on Wye. Even the coast at Aberystwyth is no more that 1 1/2 hours drive away. |
