Woodhouse Farm is situated in glorious upland Mid Wales, midway between Rhayader and Llanidloes. We offer accommodation for groups and individuals in our warm and comfortable bunkhouse, and our Certificated Site is available for members of the Camping and Caravanning Club. During the summer months our 18 foot traditional western style tipi is also available and will sleep up to eight people.
We are ideally situated for cycling and walking with Glyndwr's Way, the Wye Valley Walk and Lon Las Cymru all almost on our doorstep. With our location right in the middle of Wales we are also an excellent stopping point for trans Cambrian routes, both north - south and east - west.
Being situated in the heart of the countryside Woodhouse Farm is also ideal for those looking for a break away from it all, where you can just sit and relax in peace and quiet.
The farm itself is a smallholding located alongside and with access to the River Marteg, a tributary of the Wye. Wildlife is second to none, with over 50 different species of bird spotted here, including Red Kites, Sparrowhawk, Woodpeckers, Goldfinches and Buntings. The Otter is known to frequent the river. We have established the farm as a private nature reserve under the auspices of the Radnorshire Wildlife Trust, with the objective of creating a truly natural habitat.
However, it is still run as a small farm, where we keep an assortment of animals, cattle, sheep, pigs, ponies, chickens and ducks. At feeding time guests are welcome to come with us and experience these animals, all of which are docile, at closer quarters, and this is always popular with families with children. Depending upon the season there may also be lambs to attend to, or newly hatched chicks.
